Why not stick a 1400cc air cooled Kawasaki in one of those like the pro bikes use to run high 8's???

lol, I am a big fan of those old air cooled KZ's and still have enough parts to put together a solid 9 second piece!!! been tempting!!!!
We decided to go the Hayabusa route because of the popularity of the busa and a desire to become more proficient with a electronic injected combination, as the Suzuki GSXR 1000's and the Hayabusa are the most common.
One other Simple reason, Jeni has heard all the Hype about Hayabusa's for several years...and she wanted one! Whats a daddy to do but to make his little girl Happy!!
I do appreciate all the comments, Good and Bad, the good for obvious reasons, But for those who feel we shouldn't be allowed certain places, Don't want us out there, What ever, I welcome tho opportunity to discuss our type of car, your concerns, your feelings, or any other issue pertaining to us. It should be through this type of format, That we can bring a considerable amount of information to the surface, discuss it and become better informed across the board!
I brought the subject up of Super Comp because of a posting on a sight that is for Motorcycle and Snowmobile powered cars, On that sight, Jr Comp is just a after thought,
Most of the posters have Dragsters and Funny Cars with adults, They have about 300 members.
We did some testing with a family on Wednesday, it was not long before the guys in tech were relating stories about complaints and concerns concerning the topic of Jr Comp cars in Super Comp, Sadly, it seems that one was belligerently angry.
With ours being the first and most active Jr Comp Car to run any of the 1/4 mile classes, I guess we have become the center of that attention and have become the lighting rod for a majority of comments, feelings and emotional out bursts. I guess I am confused and amazed at the anger and the politicization that this type of car has caused.
I really do not know what direction we will take as a team, with this type of car. Our Current intent was to work our new car into the bottom of Pro Et, running in the 9.50- 9.60 range, putting the race in front of us. We have been building the car to fit the rules, Didn't use our racepak dash, no auto shifter, we are hacking the ECU so we can program out the top end rev limiter so we can use a two step on the line.
But it is also our intent to manually throttle stop it and create ignition and fuel maps so the same combination can be run as a Jr Comp car, hopefully to demonstrate the versatility of this type of combination. Then for fun, Spray it if Jeni thinks she wants to blast off some 8 second runs. It would be our hope that we would be allowed to make those types of passes as exhibition runs at event that featured Jr Comp Cars, Again to show the versatility of these type of cars.
Not being to keen on robo-rides (electronics) we had never really considered Super Comp
Not being overly stuffed in the wallet, we never really considered comp,
Truth be known, we always felt if the budget allowed, Quick-16 would be our ultimate goal. Doing a Turbo/Nitrous application, The car really wouldn't be a Jr Comp Car, but truly a Mini Dragster, little longer wheel base, little wider stance, 15 in slicks instead of the 13's and 17's up front. 500-700hp in a 700lb package.
I do have to confess, The Super Comp issue, and some of the feed back we are receiving has me questioning our choice to avoid Super Pro and the use of a delay box and other electronics. Jeni and I will be talking a little about box racing and the possibility of testing the waters in Super Pro. We will see!
Thanks! Bill Newman
